Types Of Betting In Craps

Some bets should be made before the come out roll some should be made after the come out roll; however, for most of the bets there is a natural win, a loss, or a point.

The Pass Line Bet

The first roll of dice in the craps game is known as the come out roll.  The pass line bet should be made before the come out roll.

• If the dice roll show 7 or 11, this is known as the Natural, and you win.
• If the dice roll show 2, 3, or 12, this is known as the craps and you lose the game.
• If the dice roll 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10, then the number you get becomes the Point. And you have to roll the dice again.

When you are rolling for the point, if you roll another point before you roll a 7 you win; however, if you roll a 7 before the point, then you lose.

7 is a key number in Pass Line bet; however you need to remember:

• 7 in the Come Out roll is a winner
• 7 on any other roll is a loser

Don't Pass bet

The Don’t Pass bet is the reverse of Pass Line bet.

• If the dice roll a 2 or 3 in the come out roll, you win.
• It the dice roll shows 7 or 11, you lose
• If the dice roll 12 ties
• If you make a point roll, you have to roll again.  When you are rolling for the point, if you roll another point before you roll a 7 you win; however, if you roll a 7 before the point, then you lose.

Come bet

Come bet is similar to the Pass Line bet, but it is wagered after the Come Out roll. The come bet can be made anytime you want to play.  After the come bet the regular pattern of natural win, lose, or point comes in to effect.

Don't Come bet

Similar to the Don't Pass bet however, it is made after the Come Out roll.  After the come bet the regular pattern of natural win, lose, or point comes in to effect.

Place bets

There are 2 types of place bets:

• Place to win bet:  In this bet rather than deciding on the point based on what comes in the roll you choose the point.  If you roll the point you choose before 7, then you win.
• Place to lose bet:  In this bet you choose the point and you win if you roll a 7 before rolling the chosen point.

Buy and Lay bets

• A Buy bet is similar to Place to Win bet: You "buy" or “chose” a number point.  If you roll the point before the 7 you win, else you lose.
• A Lay bet is similar to Place to lose bet: You "buy" or “chose” a number point.  If you roll 7 before the point you win, else lose.

Both of these bet types mostly have pay out differences.

Hard Way bets

• When you play online craps, rolling a double is very difficult.
• By betting on Hard Way 6, if you roll 6 "the hard way" (3 and 3) before you roll 7 and before you roll 6 "the easy way" (1 and 5, or 2 and 4), you win.
• You can also make bets on Hard Way 4, Hard Way 6, Hard Way 8, or Hard Way 10, where you have to roll (2 and 2) (3 and 3) (4 and 4) (5 and 5) respectively.

Big 6 and Big 8

In these bets you have to roll 6 or an 8, prior to rolling a 7 if you should win.

The Odds Bet

The odds bet have very less house advantage or nothing at all.

An odds bet is permitted only if you have made Pass Line, Don't Pass, Come, or Don't Come bet, and after which a point has been arrived at. After arriving at the point, you can make odds bet right after the chip bet on your original bet.

• Taking the odds:  If you make an odds bet with additional chips stating that a point will be rolled before a 7 on a Pass Line or Come bet, this is called "Taking the Odds."
• Laying the odds: If you make an odds bet with additional chips stating that a 7 will be rolled before a point on a Don't Pass or Don't Come bet, this is called "Laying the Odds."

Proposition Bets

You can establish a point, and roll the dice again and again without rolling the point or a 7; but many players are impatient to wait for such, these players can bet on what will happen on the next roll of the dice. The different types of proposition bets are as follows:

• Any Craps betting: A wager on that the next roll will be a 2, 3, or 12.
• Crap 2, Crap 3, and Crap 12: A wager bet specifying that next roll will be the specific crap number you are betting on.
• Seven: A wager that the next roll will be a 7.
• Eleven: A wager that the next roll will be an 11.
• C&E (Craps & Eleven): A wager that the next roll will be a 2, 3, 11, or 12.
• Field bet: A wager that the next roll will be a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12 that is a wager on the low or high numbers, excluding the middle numbers.
